The more we learn about ourselves and how our mind and body are connected, the more we are realizing that movement matters. Further, we are also beginning to study and understand the intrinsic link between time spent outdoors and maintaining good health. But what does any of this have to do with the very personal decision to begin counseling? The psychotherapy process is all about looking inside and activating change. When you are outdoors, walking with your therapist, the symbolic and concrete suddenly coincide. The entire therapeutic process is enhanced by the way in which you are both literally and figuratively taking steps toward change. Additionally, the new information you learn and insight you gain during a walk and talk session may create more salient memories; thereby increasing the effectiveness of each session.
I have included some links below that may help inform your decision making process as you decide whether walk and talk is a good fit for you!
